Walking Wales: The Art lover's Guide to Wye Valley Way

The Wye Valley Way is 136 miles long, stretching from Chepstow near the Welsh borders in the south,up through Ross on Wye, Monmouth, straying into England and Herefordshire, then back up through Rhayader, Llangurig to the source of the River Wye at Plynlimon.

Walking Wales: The Art Lover's Guide to Wye Valley Way is based on the author's 15-day trek, staying overnight in B&B accommodation which is featured in the book. Basically, two old ladies tramping through the countryside, as Jacqueline says, "and life's too short to camp!"

Although it takes you along the route in some detail, it is clearly not the book you drag around with you on the walk itself! There is an excellent detailed route guide already available that is a must, and you can have an official  “Passport” stamped along the way to prove you did it.

The focus is on the special landmarks and scenery that  artists have loved for centuries, making sure you do not miss any of them. Even better, there are around 40 images of old paintings from the 18th to the 20th century, all part of National Library of Wales collections, alongside the more recent photographs.

So, find out what the route is, how to train and plan for your trek, and what to expect once you get started. It is a challenge, but Jacqueline and Jenni seem to be doing fine as they reach the end of the trail! Now is a good time to be planning a long-distance walk for 2021 we think.

Attractive square presentation, full colour images throughout, latest version as spiral bound, 116 pages.
